Payet cause of drop in form.
Payet has a reputation for causing trouble in the dressing room. Maybe that coupled with his drop in form is the problem.

"The view in France is that, while he's an exceedingly talented player, Payet is also capable of causing rifts in the dressing room"

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3440256/Dimitri-Payet-West-Ham-superstar-faces-Euro-2016-heartache-France-boss-Didier-Deschamps-wary-proud-arrogant-playmaker.html

Perhaps him moving to Man U is a good thing.

It's a bit old that article and Deschamps did call him up didn't he?

I don't see the point in getting rid of our best players.

I think some times when West Ham have really good players we almost don't know what to do. Just end up moaning about them when they have a bad game.

But forget his basically set up all 3 of our ;ast goals.

Yep, it's an old story. But maybe a clue to what's going on.

No doubting his abilities obviously, but I wonder is Deschamps is looking over the channel with "I could have warned you" look on his face.

So its Payet's fault now?

Pretty much all players with a streak of genius will need handling with kid gloves to get the best out of them.
Do you think the likes of Pogba, Yaya Toure, Ronaldo, Suarez are all angels? What about past players like Cantona? Got to have good management and team mates who are tolerant.

You don't get rid of your best players, you build something round them and find a way to keep their interest in what you are trying to do.

For Payet, his career as a world star is just getting started but he only has a few years left at his peak so the lack of progress of our club in terms of cracking Europe or even mounting a challenge for some silverware will be a problem.

He looks like he's lost interest and cuts a frustrated figure currently.

Nothing like a good conspiracy theory for some. My take? Nothing more than a loss of confidence that has spread through an entire squad who are struggling badly...

Re: Payet cause of drop in form.
I expect he was hoping to be turning it on in the europa league this season and was probably promised a load of quality players by the board during his contract negotiations.

Yes he is being paid a load of cash but his career hasn't got a lot left and we are not doing much for him.

I expect him to leave in January and I expect the board to claim that Ayew is his replacement.

Payet has been in better form than 99 percent of the rest of the team.

Of course he is going to be less productive when we're playing as we currently are.

A friend of a friend is a taxi driver ( yeah! I know - great source!)
Who picked up Antonio's brother for a fare.

Anyway he discussed how Antonio was gutted he never made the England team, but also mentioned how Payet strolls in and out of training when he wants and his poor attitude is rubbing off on the players.

Apparently Bilic wants rid, but the Chairmen won't have it.

Could be bullshit - but explains Bilic's comments last week and the OP

"I thought he's the highest assister in the known universe this season?"

Don't think anyone is doubting his abilities. Just that his character might be causing more negatives than his skills are bringing positives.

So Payet is bigger than West Ham then mallard?

Mallard

This is what I've been saying all along - people are now waking up.

It doesn't matter who you are, or how talented you are, nobody is bigger than the club.

If you are an unhappy megastar, and don't want to be at a club, of course it is going to rub off on players.

Cash in now, get some decent players to save us from the drop.

As an aside, we need Big Andy to stay fit now more than ever. He;s a strong character who'll give 100% and won't follow Payet like a sheep.

"Cash in now, get some decent players to save us from the drop."

I agree the team could be better rid of him now, but cash hasn't been problem this season. With all the money the club now has and a megastar in the team, top players still didn't want to come here. Why? Porn barons owning the club. They are lowlifes and noone respects them.

And who pray tell will provide the assists, score from the free kicks, whip those crosses in and score more than his fair share of hoals to keep us up??
Beggars believe people think NOW is the time to get rid! If he is desperate to go.. wait til the summer. We''ll either be safe and can command a good price or we'll be down & HAVE to sell.

camel-with-3-humps 7:13 Fri Dec 9

Roeder

You want to keep Payet until the summer? But you heard what Mils and Mallard are saying - that he's a troublemaker who is sucking morale out the club.

And as for all these people excusing Payet's attitude because of our poor form - did Tevez ever let his head drop? No, he was an equally-talented player but led the team by example. He electrified the players around him.

Re: Payet cause of drop in form.
Interesting quandary, if true.
But we know the baby Bentley factor crippled the dressing room in the past. Can't help remembering the Ashley Young attributed comments at the time.
If he's a bad egg, no matter how good he may be, we need rid. If not, we need to find a different solution and bowing and scraping to an individual player should not be what the club is about. IF that is what is going on.
Trouble is, we are not going to attract top players like him if we sell them at the first sign of trouble or if we don't compete. If we get rid of him, can you really see the Daves managing to buy anything worthwhile in January?
